At Hear Like a 21 Year Old, one of our providers will discuss all the steps as you have your hearing tested, and answer any questions that you may have about the testing.
Devon, Chester Springs and Lansdowne conduct tests.
Hearing Tests
Determining a baseline of your current hearing capability is fundamental in hearing health. Having your hearing test is your start to addressing your hearing loss (if applicable) and creating a hearing health baseline.
At Hear Like a 21 Year Old, we know how critical your hearing is to your life. In addition to not hearing others, your loss could lead to isolation, withdrawal, and social anxiety. A hearing loss also brings a 3-4 time greater change of dementia.
At Hear Like a 21 Year Old, one of our providers will discuss all the steps as you have your hearing tested, and answer any questions that you may have about the testing.
What Happens At Your First Appointment
At our clinics or in your home, our hearing providers follow a four step process. Your provider will learn of your situation so they can assess any ear or hearing issues and recommend the best next steps.
1. Background and Case History
Collectively we will identify any changes in your hearing. A complete case history will be done to determine if there are any medical conditions, what’s causing any hearing problems, and how these losses are affecting your everyday life.
2. Ear Examination
Your provider will explain how your ear work with the brain so that you can hear clearly. Then, we explain how we test your hearing health, followed by an ear canal/ear drum examination to verify there are no blockages.
3. Evaluation of Hearing
Several tests will be conducted by your provider to objectively determine what you are (and are not) hearing and the source of the hearing issues. The results will quantifiably determine the level of your hearing loss.
4. Next Steps
Your provider will review your test results and discuss your current hearing health. If hearing treatment may help to improve your hearing, your provider may fit you with demonstration hearing aids.
How You Are Tested?
A battery of tests are available at Hear Like a 21 Year Old. These tests allow us to evaluate each person’s hearing loss and auditory symptoms, based on their specific hearing needs.
List of the hearing tests available include:

Tone testing to quantify loss in both ears
Speech understanding in quiet
